Celebrating our Commitment: Communities at the Heart of UHC Joins Forces for Greater Impact and first-line health services in "Health for All" approach

Communities at the Heart of UHC, in our unwavering dedication to put communities at the center of our journey towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), sunsetted at the end of 2023. Efforts to prioritize community health in UHC policy continues in these strong organizations, coalitions and campaigns, including the Community Health Impact Coalition, Allies Improving PHC and UHC2030 CSEM. We hope our members and followers will check out these other organizations and consider joining to keep your voice for CHWs and UHC heard.

Since 2018, Communities at the Heart of UHC has been dedicated to putting communities front and center in the journey towards Universal Health Coverage. Our mission, centered on empowering champions of community health and ensuring equitable access to healthcare, has resonated with partners and advocates globally.

One of the greatest accomplishments of our campaign is the Community Health & UHC Scorecards. These scorecards monitor key community health indicators to help countries assess how policies, investments, and actions impact the delivery of health care services. The campaign was committed to tracking countries’ progress toward achieving UHC and these scorecardstrack key indicators in the community health landscape in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Malawi, Tanzania, and Uganda. Our scorecards have been an integral resource for our campaig’’s global advocacy efforts, and we hope they continue to be an effective resource for community health empowerment.

The campaign was founded in 2018 by Amref Health Africa, Aspen Management Partnership for Health, Financing Alliance for Health, the International Rescue Committee, Last Mile Health and Living Goods. We want to thank and celebrate our current steering committee members, Financing Alliance for Health, Health and Rights Education Programme, Lwala Community Alliance, Living Goods, Muso Health, TIP Global Health, Pathfinder International, and the People’s Health Movement of Tanzania for leading the campaign and elevating the visibility of community health within the UHC space.

Our website will remain online in its current state for the next three years to serve as a resource for all community health advocates. With this transition, we are not just being absorbed into other coalitions; we are combining strengths and resources to continue to create a force for positive change. The essence of our mission, our commitment to community-driven UHC strategies, will continue, strengthened by the synergies of partner organizations. Our commitment is resolute, our vision unwavering, and our impact boundless. Together, we are shaping a healthier and more equitable world for all.
